And it’s all thanks to Torfox, a derivative of Firefox and Tor mashed together!
Then run torfox.exe and it will open a slim looking version of Firfox. The first page won’t load right away, it could take up to three mins to connect, but then once it does, you can surf anywhere, without limits or worries!

Screencast coming soon!

Under “Take Total DNS Control”

create a new “A NAME” Record

Like this:

- Domain: *
- IP: 123.123.123.123 (but use the IP of the server, but you knew that)

But wait! There are a couple of things to consider:

You MUST use the “Deluxe” hosting plan

You MUST Purchase a “Dedicated IP Address”

You SHOULD use PHP5 (not 4)

Failure to get a Dedicated IP Address will result in getting this Message:

Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.33 Server at AppStuff Port 80

The reason is that without the dedicated IP Address, that IP would resovle to a number of domain that you don’t manage. You “Share” the ip with others, so that won’t work here. You have to have a static IP.

Why would someone want wildcard DNS? Supposed you wanted to install WordPress-Mu for example? It allows you to create blogs as sub-domains. (Like http://jason.green.cx and secret.green.cx even the root blog can be a different site)

Or you could do like Milo at http://darkolivegreen.milov.nl/ (http://AnyColor. milo.nl will show you information about any specific color, or hex value)

Some URL Shorteners use the subdomain part for the address, like http://r4d.us has it in the works to do http://url.r4d.us

Sky’s the limit, so have some fun with this DNS Trick!

Here is why I like OpenDNS and I use it on my networks, even at home!

It’s really easy to deploy, you only have to change your DNS Addresses to: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
